Job Got Spanked Hard!! lol

 My thoughts on Job.

I maybe shouldn't have but I had to laugh when God finally got tired of Job's friends chastising Job, and tired of Job's piti-party, I guess,  and I think He got angry and started saying, where were you when I did .. this or that.. and went on for almost 4 chapters! LOL.  Poor Job says,  behold I am vile! I love reading the book of Job! LOL   You should start reading at Chap.38.. lol

  1. I always read that section of Job as a warning to not think of myself too highly. I seem to always fall into that trap thinking that I might know more than God (I don't, for sure!). It was great seeing you at the store today. Did you get your ice cream?

    2. Hi Shirley, how are you? My name is Eduardo Rogério Montanari Rozalim. I discovered your YouTube channel a few days ago because of my love for Skyrim. The algorithm was kind to me and introduced you. I'm from Brazil, in the state of São Paulo, in the city of Bauru, in the interior of the state. My city here is very hot and dry. I really enjoy playing Skyrim. Because of my work in the justice system, I only play on weekends, when I have a little time, with my 13-year-old son, Enrico. Congratulations on your work on YouTube. Here at home, we're already following your Skyrim videos and vlogs. I've been a member of the First Independent Presbyterian Church in my city for almost 40 years. The book of Job represents to me how much we must be obedient to God, no matter the circumstances. Only our faith in Christ can sustain us in difficult situations, like those Job experienced. Thank you so much for your work online! God bless you always!

    3. Thank you so much Eduardo! I'm glad you're here. Yes, your view of Job is correct. I just have to see the humor in things or pictures in my head of what's going on. lol

  2. I've always been so infatuated with Job, especially God's "answer" to him. Job never learned of the meeting of the Sons of God, he never learned why he experienced the trials that he did; Job did learn though that there is so much that he could never fathom, from the beasts of the fields to the depths of the ocean. God's answer to Job, at least as I've taken it, was to put down his pride and shame and to trust in the being that made the first day and gives even the smallest of animals their needs. Truly, where was Job when God created everything? Job was in God's loving care already, before he was even created.

  3. I never red the Book of Job, but one of my greatest friends (who is a writer, and particularly a big fan of Shakeaspeare, well, who isnt, am i right?) every once and a while remember me about it and how its, in his words, the most beautiful poem in our history as human beings.

Can't wait to read it when the time is ready!

    1. Yeah, it helps. I had to do this with Jonah. I was laughing at him for being so sulky, and thinking he could outrun God. But let's be real - if that was ME, I would probably do the same. And putting myself in his shoes helps see things clearer.

  9. Ah yes, the book of Job! God's long monologue at the end is truly glorious. It is one of my favourite parts of the bible! You know, it was only recently I realized that Elihu, the youngest, must be a prophet. It is he, it seems, that delivers God's words (though I think the monologue is not directly referenced as coming by Elihu's mouth). Elihu is also the only of Job's friends that is not scolded at the end.

Well anyway, wether Elihu was a prophet or not - earlier this day I actually thought about this very part of Job's book. I was sitting at work, really struggling with a small task that should be so simple. But it was as if my mind just couldn't wrap itself around the logics of it. After over an hour of repeating the same mistakes and not getting it to work, I got frustrated. I turned around, looking out of the window to disconnect a little. And as I looked at the vast sky and the beautiful, brush like clouds, for some reason I came to think of God's "where were you when I did this and made that" - speach. And I thought "wow, God really did ALL that. He keeps tabs on everything at all times, he is so infinetly more vast and allknowing than I can ever be. And I thought, if he can do all that... surely he also knows the answer to the task I'm struggling with on my screen right now lol. :p So I asked him, in my thought, if perhaps he could help me. An lo and behold - when I turned back to my screen, I got an idea to try. And I tried, and it worked. :p Amazing.

Wow this is becoming a LONG post! But to comment on the humour in Job - yes! God's reply, when it came, was THOUROUGH haha! I love how he basically says, in 38, 3: "Buckle up and let me teach you!" Man, I do love God's ways of getting through to us sometimes. Though to be fair, Job had not had it easy. Can't fault him for his pity, as a fellow human. One thing I love to see when reading the Bible, is how much humanity is on display there. And God knows, and understands, though that's no excuse not to try.

  20. Job is also one of my favorite books of the Bible. I have a hard time really explaining why other than of all the different things that are still relevant today in the Bible his story just feels like it could take place today almost word for word.

  21. One of my favourite parts of Scripture is God’s response to Job. Something really cool I discovered today is that the Hebrew word translated as “repent” in Job 42:6 can also mean “to be comforted.” It gives such a rich perspective, Job wasn’t only repenting before God but also being comforted in the revelation that YHWH is God, and that even in the midst of his mourning, he could find peace in that truth.

  23. Hello Shirley,

I've been studying parts of bible with jehova witnesses, even they are not church i was born in. It was part of my life back then and I'm still in contact with one of them. It's impressive that you have been playing game for about 10 years and still somehow enjoying single player game plus mods. Today I've got gamepass subscription where ESO is included, probably i will play it. I would like to fight for you, definitely have more lines of speech than followers in skyrim. I'm retired already for ten years even that I'm in my mid forties for the reason of being too active back in the days. I might have one personal question about have many WPM you had before screens. If it is relevant I would like to hear about it with no offense planned first place.

This was not edited, translated or corrected by AI, so typos and grammar mistakes might be included, I am real person.
